Pizza in La Union

Pizza here in Chile is interesting.  No pepperoni!  We found this little pizza place in La Union after trying the supermarket pizza and finding it less than pleasing.  This pizza is good!  Even the crust is good.  And home delivery is free.  Pizza in Chile -- way to go!

Elder Stott's birthday

Elder Stott had his birthday this month.  He found this sign on the road between La Union and Osorno.  Sometimes he feels like this is a message for him.  Look it up in Google Translate if you can't tell what the sign says.

Piano lessons, Spanish lessons, and Home Repairs

Elder Stott is giving piano lessons to a lady (in her late 30s or so) in the Radimadi branch.  In Spanish!  He is very patient.  The student is good; she actually practices. But rr than using a, b, c, d, e, f, and g names for notes, the Chileans use do (middle c), re, me, fa, so, la, ti, and do and it is frustrating Dad to have to convert the way he plays.

While Elder Stott is giving the piano lessons, the Radimadi hermanas are giving me Spanish lessons.  But this week there was no Spanish lesson as the hermanas were waiting for their lena (wood for the wood stove).  Friday was the 4th day they have been staying home waiting for the wood. Chile is a little loose in its time for appointments.  The wood came during piano lessons, all 5 meters of it.  Now they just have to have the pieces of wood which are 3 feet long, cut into 3 or 4 pieces that will fit into the stove and stacked in the back yard.

Elder Stott did some repairs around the house at Radimadi hermanas' home.  He has always been handy around the house with repairs, and it is coming in handy now.  He even has two toolboxes and an electric drill.  But the missionaries love him when he comes to fix things.  He is getting expert on leaky faucets and toilets.  (Sorry I have not yet figured out how to turn photos in the blog.  Turn you head or your computer!)

Baked goods -- very well done!

With Keith out of commission due to a bad cold, we have stayed home a lot this past week.  I am baking more now with more time during the day (and somewhat bored to stay home), but I still need the oven thermometer!  My cinnamon rolls turned out pretty good, but the banana bread was very brown on the bottom and the sides!  When I went to turn down the gas oven, it turned off!  I had to relight it.  I made stove-top granola cookies which tasted like candy, but set up so quickly that I had to use the last 1/4 for ice cream topping because I could not get them to stick together for cookies.  However, they were also great on the chocolate pudding I made!  I made dinner rolls and had the same problem with trying to turn the oven down.  Their bottoms and sides were very brown, but Keith looked at them and said, "Ah!  My kind of rolls!"  I do love that man!

(No pictures -- who wants to see almost burned baked goods!)
